Tea Party vs. Redoubt vs. Occupy Movement

•February 18, 2012 • Leave a Comment

I consider myself to be a Tea Party Patriot.  But I am also a Redoubter.  That’s a Tea Partier who’s moved on to the next level.

The chart below is relevant, because Redoubters are nothing more than Tea Party Patriots who see the reality that America may be crumbling.  The difference between an American Redoubt Patriot and a Tea Party Patriot is that Tea Partiers are still chanting “Save America,” while Redoubters see a nation that doesn’t want to be saved, and in fact is becoming a culture increasingly hostile toward traditional American ideals.  Redoubters realize that at some point you will have to stop baling, put your water bucket down, and get in the life raft.  Save America, yes.  But we’d better have a backup plan if saving it is no longer viable.  Most Jews in Poland didn’t make a decision to take the gap and retreat to Israel until the noose was firmly tightened around their necks.  Sprinkled out across eastern Europe, the Jews were not concentrated, nor resolved enough, to resist tyranny until their necks were already under Nazi jackboots.  Then, it was too late.

Tea Party Patriots have the solution: Return to constitutional principles.  They’re right.  But not enough people are listening, nor do they care any longer.  Besides, the Constitution is meaningless so long as we, as a nation, continue to reject God.

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

— John Adams

The media has tried to marginalize the Tea Party by labeling them as the conservative equivalent to the Occupier crowd.
However, the visual differences in their demonstrations aside, the chart below tells the real tale:

FBI Wants App Developed to Track Social Media for "Potential Threats"

•February 18, 2012 • Leave a Comment

“… The government really doesn’t have any interest in tracking someone’s Twitter account if they’re not doing something wrong or suspected of doing something wrong.”
— Mike German, ACLU

“[information gathered using the app] could be cross referenced with other databases to identify potential threats.”

And could you please define what “Potential threats” means?  Mr. German is correct.  The government doesn’t have an interest in tracking you if you’re not doing something “wrong.”  What’s the definition of wrong?  Wrong thinking?  Wrong ideas?  Wrong topic for discussion?  Wrong non-government approved food storage?  Wrong shooting range event because you lack the proper permits and could be doing paramilitary training?  Wrong bible study because the bible you’re using says that homosexuality is a sin?  Wrong home school curriculum because you’re teaching your children that the founding fathers advocated resisting tyranny?
I wouldn’t have a problem with the government using a system like this to track real terrorists.  But what concerns me is their demonstrated inability or, more accurately, unwillingness to do the things that actually WOULD contribute to our national security, such as sealing our borders and scrutinizing young Arab males at the airports instead of children, elderly, and attractive women.
What concerns me further is the temptation to use this technology to track political dissenters and other “potential threats” in a world where the government is continually redefining terms such as threat, terrorist, extremist, and enemy.  We’ve seen multiple attempts in recent history where American Patriots with traditional American values have been labeled as “potential domestic terror threats.”  Quite frankly, this has too much potential for abuse.
A little less freedom in order to be safe?  No thank you!  I would rather live free and be less safe, because there are too many examples where less freedom resulted in loss of security in the long run.  Worse, it leads to a false sense of security.

WASHINGTON – The FBI is getting in on the law enforcement app game — posting documents online recently to seek industry input on developing the equivalent of a web alert system.
The 12-page document, called “FBI Social Media Application,” provides a detailed picture of the bureau’s specifications. The program must have the ability “to rapidly assemble critical open source information and intelligence … to quickly vet, identify and geo-locate breaking events, incidents and emerging threats.”

Alaska’s Legislation Would Make TSA Violations Illegal

Rep. Sharon Cissna’s legislation would also ban body scanners that produce naked images

Alaska Bill Would Criminalize Invasive TSA Pat Downs Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet.com
Thursday, February 16, 2012

A bill introduced by Alaska lawmaker and TSA grope victim Rep. Sharon Cissna would criminalize both invasive pat downs and body scans that produce naked images conducted by the federal agency, setting the stage for another states’ rights battle with the government.
When Texas lawmakers tried to pass a similar law last year, the federal government threatened to enforce a no fly zone [1] over the lone star state, and the measure was eventually defeated after a lengthy legislative struggle.
Cissna was barred from flying by the TSA after an incident at SEA-TAC International Airport last year [2] during which she refused to undergo an intrusive pat down after she had already passed through a naked body scanner. The scan results showed scars from her breast cancer surgery, prompting TSA officials to insist she underwent secondary screening.
“Facing the agent I began to remember what my husband and I’d decided after the previous intensive physical search. That I never had to submit to that horror again!” she said. “It would be difficult, we agreed, but I had the choice to say no, this twisted policy did not have to be the price of flying to Juneau.”
The bill introduced by Cissna, HB 262 [3], states;
A person commits the offense of interference with access to public buildings or transportation facilities if the person, as a condition for access to a public building or transportation facility, requires another person to consent or otherwise submit to
(1) physical contact by any person touching directly or through clothing the genitals, buttocks, or female breast of the person seeking access; or
(2) any electronic process that produces an electronic image of the genitals, anus, or female breast or otherwise creates an electronic image of the person seeking access that exposes or reveals a physical characteristic that is normally hidden by clothing and is not normally visible to the public.
Cissna’s legislation goes further than the Texas bill in that it bans body scanners that produce naked images. The abuse of such technology was in the news again this week after the TSA forced a woman to go through a body scanner three times [4] at DFW International Airport so TSA screeners in a back room could get a “good look” at her “cute” figure.

“When Bob and I announced my candidacy for Lieutenant Governor here in Kalispell, I said, ‘We are in this race to win.’ I realized then that, in order to be competitive, there were certain criteria that had to be met. I knew our campaign had to raise a sizeable sum of money; and knew that we had to put together a quality campaign organization. Since making our announcement back in November, this campaign has accomplished neither task.
“Therefore, it is more than obvious to me that this campaign has no chance of being successful in the primary elections. And I have too much respect for the people of Montana than to ask them to support a candidacy that cannot at least be competitive. People who believe in a political campaign enough to invest their time and hard-earned money in it have a right to expect that the candidates they support can deliver a successful campaign.
“I believe that my departure from the Governor/Lieutenant Governor race will allow me to continue to pursue whatever opportunities the people of Montana would believe were best suited for those abilities and attributes that I may have in our mutual pursuance of liberty and constitutional government. And, no, I will not endorse a gubernatorial candidate at this time.
“I wish Bob Fanning much success in his future endeavors and am honored that he would ask me to be his Lieutenant Governor running mate.”

I want to thank readers for their support and prayers for me and my family as we continue to fight for the principles of liberty and constitutional government in our country, and especially in the great State of Montana.

Doomsday Report: THREE MILLION PREPPERS IN AMERICA Are Getting Ready For The End of the World As We Know It
Posted By Mac Slavo
In the autumn of 2008, as Presidential hopefuls sparred over whether we had entered a recession or not and well before the onset of the most serious global crisis since the 1930′s, trend forecaster Gerald Celente [1] advised his Trends Journal [2] subscribers to prepare for the worst and plan for the best. “It will be,” warned Celente [3], “like nothing we’ve ever seen in our lifetime.”

The aware and prepared … those understanding just how out of control society would become, and those who had acquired the skills for survival would stand the best chance of navigating the chaos safely.
But Americans were not prepared. Not by a long shot

Very few had the foresight to predict that the economic system and social fabric of our nation would be threatened with upheaval and disarray.  But some, whether through independent education or through intuition, deduced that there was a real possibility of a system shock so significant that life as we know it could be on the verge of a major paradigm shift – perhaps even a complete collapse of our economy [4] and resource infrastructure [5].
As natural disasters around the world took the lives of hundreds of thousands, space agencies warned of solar disruptions that threaten our power grid [6], the economies of the world slid further into depression [7], and tensions between the world’s financial and resource super powers grew, more and more people began to realize that the stability we have come to depend on to live our daily lives was nothing but illusion [8].
With very few places to turn for support, most headed for the internet, where communities had popped up to discuss possible disaster and collapse scenarios [9], and ways to minimize the impact [10] on oneself and family. That it was happening or could happen was no longer the question.
The real question was how to survive it when it finally came to pass.
With none of us ever having experienced (or even imagined) such a possibility before, many turned to guidance from experts in their fields – people  like Gerald Celente or Marc ‘Dr. Doom’ Faber [11], who had an uncanny ability to see developing trends, and authors like survival expert [12] James Rawles who wrote the popular economic collapse and survival cult classic Patriots [13] and William Forstchen who penned One Second After [14], a frighteningly realistic look at what life without the grid might look like. First it was thousands, then tens of thousands of concerned Americans who began learning the essentials of survival by learning from each other with resources offered at web destinations like the American Preppers Network [15], Doctor Prepper [16], Survival Mom [17], Off Grid Survival [18] and Ready Nutrition [19].
Those who chose to insulate themselves against coming disaster were often vilified or dismissed as lunatics by friends and family alike. And while many chose to ignore the trend which had become quite apparent [20], those who had the willingness to consider a different reality than had been painted by the powers that be just kept on preppin’.
As global malaise continued and the people began to lose confidence in political platitudes and corporatist solutions, the movement towards preparedness, survival and self reliance grew. After having seen what took place in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, many came to the conclusion that if the worst were to happen there would be no government to help, no 9-1-1 to call, and no emergency management agency to distribute food or water.
Today, at the cusp of possibly the most trying times in human history, more Americans than ever before are preparing for the possibility of disaster.
As many as three million Americans now fall into the category dubbed ‘preppers’ – people who are making detailed plans for the end of the world as we know it.
The preppers are an ever-growing group of survivalists who take extreme measures to prepare for a major catastrophic event.
More than 300,000 people a month visit the movement’s website, survivalblog.com, which catalogues how people are preparing for the worst.
The website has been set up by James Rawles, a former US Army intelligence officer, who is one of the movement’s leading figures.
Speaking to The Times, he said: ‘Should the worst happen, it’s become apparent that the Government can’t provide for everybody. And now that realisation is becoming more widespread.

The American Redoubt: The L.A. Times Gets it Mostly Right

•February 10, 2012 • Leave a Comment

The following was posted by James Rawles at Survivalblog on 9 Feb. 2012:

You may have already seen this article that ran in the Los Angeles Times on Wednesday, February 8, 2012: The American Redoubt, where survivalists plan to survive
When society collapses, they intend to be armed and well fed in the high country of the Northwest. James Wesley Rawles is their guru on the subject
. First, I must mention that this news story was run almost immediately before and with a link to a piece about a racist would-be parade bomber (the classic “guilt by association” editorial approach, but in this case, just guilt by geographical coincidence and a two-way hypertext link, to provide none-too-subtle nexus.)
In all, the article was better than most of the hatchet jobs that seem to prevail whenever the topic of survivalism is discussed. At least the reporter got her facts straight about the geography of The American Redoubt. One quibble is the semantics of a photo caption, that read: “Chuck Baldwin, speaking in Reno in 2011, is a conservative preacher and radio host who has bought into the survivalist message of James Wesley Rawles.” The phrase “bought in” has some negative connotations, in modern usage. It is noteworthy that photo captions are often used by agenda-driven editors for shading, after reporters have turned in an otherwise objective article.
My other gripe is a misquote. I was inaccurately quoted as calling myself “non-racist”. I actually said, in full: “I am non-racist and in fact an anti-racist“, which is much more direct and forthright. For the record: I despise racism!

Note from JJS:  Below is a perfect example of the drive-by tactics of the media.  The underhanded “guilty by association” style of creative so-called journalistic editing is demonstrated here.  The linked story of the Spokane bomb plot, attempted by a racist, accompanied the American Redoubt story.

“A decade after the dissolution of the Aryan Nations compound in northern Idaho and the arrest of the Montana Freemen, white supremacists, far-right militias and radical patriots have revived their dream of a homeland in the Northwest.”

“Their” – The implication is that this “dream” is a collective goal that is an equally shared collusion of the above-mentioned groups.

See how they’re all thrown in together?  They forgot to mention the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender folks who also boasted of plans of moving here.  Why didn’t they mention that?  Hmmm.

Well, the article managed to drag eastern Washington, Idaho and Montana equally into the mix.  Wyoming and Oregon, don’t feel left out.  I’m sure their digging up some examples for you.

So You Say You Want a Revolution?

Sidenote:  Beautiful quote taken from someone’s profile over at calguns.net:
“Fathom the hypocrisy of a Government that requires every Citizen to prove they are insured… but not everyone must prove they are a Citizen.”

______________________
Many years after the American Revolution, Captain Levi Preston of Danvers was asked by a young reporter, “What made you go to the Concord fight?  Was it the Stamp Act?  Was it the tea tax?”
“I never saw any stamps, and I always understood that none were ever sold.  Tea tax?  I never drank a drop of the stuff.  Besides, the boys threw it all overboard.”
“Well then, what was the matter?”
“Young man, what we meant in going after those Redcoats was this: we had always governed ourselves and we always meant to.  They didn’t mean we should.”
______________________
Lexington Green.  Dawn.  April 19, 1775.  Captain John Parker, commander of the Lexington militia, stood among seventy-some men, many of them kin, all of them neither rich nor poor, awaiting the arrival of the British Regulars.
Facing overwhelming odds, Captain Parker turned to his men and said, “The first man who offers to run shall be shot down.  Stand your ground!  Don’t fire until fired upon!  But if they want to have a war, let it begin here!”
Later that morning, on the training field just across the Concord River from the town of Concord, members of the colonial militia watched as smoke began to rise from the town.  Lieutenant Joseph Hosmer turned to Colonel James Barrett, overall commander of the Concord militia, and said, “Will you let them burn the town down?”  Upon hearing this, Captain Isaac Davis drew his sword and replied, “I haven’t a man who is afraid to go.”
The day’s events unfolded, and eight long, bloody years of war followed.  Although in hindsight we know the outcome of this conflict, to these men, the future was uncertain.  “Give me liberty or give me death” was more than just a saying.
For those keyboard commandos who have given up on America and are just waiting for a new American Revolutionary War to have a chance to “water the tree of liberty,” think about this: Captain Parker did not want to be there.  He did not want to see his kin slaughtered in front of him.  Neither did young Captain Davis, the first American officer killed in the Revolutionary War, want to leave his wife a widow and his children orphans.  However, they knew what the stakes were.  In fact, the last thing Captain Davis said to his wife was “Take good care of the children.”
These men had only two choices.  They could either submit to King George’s rule, or they could resist with arms.  Thankful for the choice that they made, we have been left with a third option: involvement.  The Tenth Amendment is not just about states’ rights.  It puts the ultimate authority into the hands of the people — into our hands.  Brave men died for this.

DHS at it again! ANOTHER Lexicon Defining Terrorists/Extremists

•February 7, 2012 • Leave a Comment

A recently published “lexicon” distributed to thousands of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) targets citizens concerned about their Second Amendment rights and the steady encroachment of the federal government, categorizing such as “militia extremists.”
The “lexicon,” marked Unclassified/For Official Use Only (FOUO), is dated November 10, 2011, and was sent out by email to law enforcement and homeland security agencies on November 14 by LaJuan E. Washington of the DHS Office of Intelligence and Analysis.  We have exclusively posted the DHS “lexicon” here.
Its definition of “militia extremists” states:

(U//FOUO) Groups or individuals who facilitate or engage in acts of violence directed at federal, state, or local government officials or infrastructure in response to their belief that the government deliberately is stripping Americans of their freedoms and is attempting to establish a totalitarian regime. These individuals consequently oppose many federal and state authorities’ laws and regulations, (particularly those related to firearms ownership), and often belong to armed paramilitary groups. They often conduct paramilitary training designed to violently resist perceived government oppression or to violently overthrow the US Government. (Page 2 of 3, emphasis added) …
